Biography of William Somerset Maugham





William Somerset Maugham, one of the most popular and froliftc English prose writes

And he was born in Paris in 1873.he learnt to speak French before he learnt to speak

English, fore his father was solicitor to the British embassy in Paris.

Before be was ten years of age Maugham became an orphan. Then he was brought up by

An uncle who was I a clergyman in Kent, England. He received his early education at

King school Canterbury .then he attend Heidelberg University in Germany.

While a student of medicine he practiced in London slums, but he never practiced after

Leaving St Thomas’s.

His experience of these six at st Thomas’s served as materials for his novels liza of

lambeth and of human bondage . but the oppressive rules could not break his spirit.
